The Brazos Valley is a region in Central Texas that is home to a number of colleges and universities, including Texas A&M University, Baylor University, and Sam Houston State University. Over the past century, these institutions have hosted a wide range of legendary performances, from classical music concerts to Broadway musicals. As part of the centennial celebration of the Association of Texas Colleges and Universities, we take a look back at some of the most memorable performances that have taken place in the Brazos Valley.

Music

The Brazos Valley has a long and rich musical history. In the early 20th century, the region was home to a number of popular dance halls, where musicians such as Bob Wills and Milton Brown played their legendary Western swing music. In the 1960s, the Brazos Valley became a hotbed for country music, with artists such as George Strait and Willie Nelson performing at local venues.

In addition to the performances by university ensembles, the Brazos Valley is also home to a number of professional music organizations. The Bryan-College Station Symphony Orchestra is a professional orchestra that performs a variety of classical and popular music. The Brazos Valley Chorale is a professional choir that performs a variety of sacred and secular music. The Brazos Valley Brass Band is a professional brass band that performs a variety of traditional and contemporary music.

Theater

The Brazos Valley is also home to a thriving theater scene. The Texas A&M University Department of Performance Studies produces a variety of theatrical productions each year, including plays, musicals, and dance performances. Baylor University's Department of Theatre Arts produces a similar variety of productions each year. Sam Houston State University's Department of Theatre and Dance produces a variety of productions each year, including plays, musicals, and dance performances.

In addition to the productions by university theater departments, the Brazos Valley is also home to a number of professional theater companies. The Brazos Valley Theatre Company is a professional theater company that produces a variety of plays and musicals each year. The Stage Right Theatre Company is a professional theater company that produces a variety of plays each year. The Theatre Under the Stars is a professional theater company that produces outdoor productions of plays and musicals each summer.

Dance

The Brazos Valley is home to a number of dance companies and studios. The Texas A&M University Department of Dance produces a variety of dance performances each year, including ballet, modern dance, and jazz dance. Baylor University's Department of Dance produces a similar variety of dance performances each year. Sam Houston State University's Department of Theatre and Dance produces a variety of dance performances each year, including ballet, modern dance, and jazz dance.
