Blood of Asaheim: A Warhammer 40,000 Novel that Explores the Darkest Corners of the Imperium
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. This is the universe of Warhammer 40,000, a setting where humanity has spread across the stars and established a vast empire. However, this empire is beset by enemies on all sides, from the alien hordes of the Orks to the twisted legions of Chaos.
In this setting, Chris Wraight's novel Blood of Asaheim tells the story of a group of Space Marines who are sent on a mission to investigate a remote world that has been overrun by Chaos. The Space Marines are led by Captain Karras, a veteran of many wars, and his mission is to find out what happened to the world's population and to purge it of any Chaos taint.

However, Asaheim was corrupted by Chaos, and its population was turned into twisted mutants. The Space Marines are sent to Asaheim to investigate the corruption and to purge it from the world.
Karras and his Space Marines land on Asaheim and quickly find themselves under attack by the corrupted mutants. The Space Marines are outnumbered, but they are able to fight their way through the mutants and reach the world's capital city.
In the city, Karras and his Space Marines find a group of survivors who have been hiding from the mutants. The survivors tell Karras that the mutants were once the people of Asaheim, but they were corrupted by a Chaos artifact that was brought to the world by a renegade Space Marine.
Karras and his Space Marines vow to find the artifact and to destroy it. They track the artifact to a nearby temple, where they are confronted by the renegade Space Marine who brought it to Asaheim. The renegade Space Marine is a powerful psyker, and he is able to use his powers to corrupt Karras and his Space Marines.
